30th Anniversary Celebration. November 19, 2013

The Thirtieth Anniversary of Houston Graduate School of Theology, a historic event, was celebrated  November 19, 2013Students, alumni, faculty, staff, friends, and honored guests enjoyed an evening of music, reflection, and rededication to the mission of Houston’s own seminary. The celebration was held at the Royal Sonesta Hotel, 2222 West Loop South in the Galleria area.

Celebrating the Journey expressed gratitude for three decades of God’s grace and direction of the school. Greg Hurst, Channel 11 News Anchor, served as emcee for the occasion.

Music was provided by a combined choir from New Faith Church and Wheeler Avenue Baptist Church, and by acclaimed gospel singer Cynthia Clawson.

The Reverend William A. Lawson, Founding Pastor of Wheeler Avenue Baptist Church, was honored with a Doctor of Divinity award. Several HGST students and alumni shared how their seminary experiences profoundly shaped their lives and ministries. President Furr gave us a glimpse of the school’s exciting future.
