  • Founded in 1983, HGST is an independent, evangelical, multicultural, and ecumenical seminary, training students from more than 30 denominational traditions.
  • HGST is fully accredited by the Association of Theological Schools in the United States and Canada (ATS), the leading accrediting agency for theological higher education.
  • HGST offers four degree programs: Master of Arts, Master of Arts in Counseling, Master of Divinity, and Doctor of Ministry. The Doctor of Ministry degree is also offered in the Korean language and in a version designed especially for active-duty and reserve military chaplains.
  • HGST is the leading provider of theological education in Houston and Southeast Texas, offering 25 or more different courses in each of its full terms, plus numerous other courses in summer and special “mini” terms.
  • The student body numbers approximately 240 enrolled in all degree programs.
  • HGST has awarded over 700 earned degrees, plus several honorary doctorates.
  • HGST reflects its Quaker heritage in the rich diversity, openness, and inclusiveness of its student body, faculty, and staff.

  • HGST has enrolled students representing more than 17 nationalities, many of whom have returned to roles of leadership in overseas missions or other foreign Christian ministries.
  • HGST's student body contains many “second career” students, who bring a high degree of maturity and experience to the classroom.
  • Among HGST's 11 full-time faculty members, 7 hold Ph.D. degrees and 4 hold D.Min. degrees.
  • Among HGST's adjunct faculty members can be counted 11 Ph.D. and 2 Ed.D. degrees, as well as a number of D.Min. or other doctoral degrees.
