About Dr. Laing
Stefana Laing took her undergraduate degree (BA) from Macquarie University in Sydney, Australia, with a double major in Ancient History and Medieval Studies. Her MDiv and PhD are from The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary. She majored in Patristics (Church Fathers) for her doctoral work, and her dissertation topic was Theodoret of Cyrus, a 5th century Syriac bishop who was deeply involved in the work of the councils which formulated orthodox Christological doctrine. Research interests include early Christian doctrinal development, historiography, spirituality, and Christian art. She has previously taught Church History at Beeson Divinity School and Christian Doctrine at Houston Baptist University. She is married to Dr. John Laing, a professor of Theology and Philosophy at Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, who also serves as a Chaplain (LTC) in the Texas Army National Guard. They have three children: Sydney, Sophia, and Alasdair, and reside in Friendswood, Texas.
