About Dr. Stutz
Dr. Stutz earned his doctorate in spiritual direction and formation at the Houston Graduate School of Theology (2013) but received his initial training in spiritual direction through the Formation in Direction (FIND) program of the Episcopal Diocese of Texas, graduating in 2006.
In addition to working with directees in private practice, he is an experienced retreat leader and workshop presenter, having worked with groups in the US, Belize, Canada, and Africa. He is a former parish pastor (14 years) and commissioned officer in the U. S. Army Corps of Engineers.
His areas of interest are dream work, individual and group discernment, use of the Enneagram in spiritual direction, mystical/contemplative spirituality, meditation, and the charismatic gifts of the Holy Spirit. He is a member of the Association for Integrative Psychology, the Labyrinth Society, the International Enneagram Society, and the International Order of St. Luke the Physician.
At this time, Dr. Stutz is a congregational renewal consultant for the Texas Annual Conference of the United Methodist Church, serves as the Chapter Coordinator for Contemplative Outreach of Houston, lectures to first and third year spiritual direction students in the FIND program, and serves on the spiritual direction formation team at St. Peter Upon the Water in Ingram, TX.
Dr. Stutz has been married to his wife, Krista, for more than 25 years and they have three grown daughters and a grandson. He enjoys running, golf, travel, and serving as a volunteer docent/historical interpreter on the Battleship Texas in LaPorte, TX.
