Thirty-five years and going HGSTRONG. That is Houston Graduate School of Theology, and that’s to be celebrated.
We’re doing just that with a gala on Sunday, November 11, 6:00-7:30 p.m. During the check-in and reception time from 5:00-6:00 p.m., a silent auction will also be held to support the school. Stay tuned for the venue to be determined for this grand event!
Speaking at the gala will be Bishop Vashti Murphy McKenzie, who has served as the 117th elected and consecrated bishop of the African Methodist Episcopal (AME) Church since 2000—a historic year for the AME Church. Bishop McKenzie’s election marked the first time in 213 years that a woman had obtained the Church’s level of Episcopal office. Currently, as the presiding prelate of the 10th Episcopal District, she provides leadership to all of the AME Churches in Texas.
We look forward to hearing from this most distinguished preacher and speaker who, among many other stellar accomplishments, has authored five books and was once named one of the 50 most powerful women religious leaders in the world.
The conversations to be had at this great celebration—reflecting on the years past, anticipating the years ahead—are something we also look forward to!Share
