About Dr. Behrens
Helping others has been the mantra of Dr. Behrens for as long as she can remember. After serving for a time as a United Methodist pastor, she sought additional education in counseling to make certain that she was providing sound counseling to those seeking her help. She now feels that ministry was her path to counseling and counselor education. She received the Master of Arts in Counseling degree in 2008 from Houston Graduate School of Theology and was licensed as a professional counselor (LPC) in the state of Texas in 2011. In 2018, she received a PhD in Counselor Education and Supervision from Sam Houston State University.
Dr. Behrens enjoys working with individuals, couples, children, and adolescents. An Existential Therapist, she believes that all persons seek meaning in their lives. As an LPC supervisor, she assists counseling interns and practicum students accomplish their goals.
Professional membership include the American Counseling Association (ACA), Texas Counseling Association (TCA), the Association for Spiritual, Ethical, and Religious Values in Counseling (ASERVIC), Southern Association for Counselor Education and Supervision (SACES), and Texas Association for Counselor Education and Supervision (TACES).
